Eclipse Wallcoverings was founded in August 1986 by my wife and I, Kath and Allan Thomas. At first we ran the business from our home and then as the business grew we moved to premises in Bridgeman Terrace, Wigan. Two years later and after further expansion we moved to Park Road, Springfield, Wigan, staying there for over 21 years.
As more people looked to us for exclusive wallpaper ranges for use in their homes, so too our commercial side grew. Our main commercial product, which we distribute exclusively in the UK and Ireland, is a Glass Fibre Wallcovering called GLASSTEX. The GLASSTEX range has been used by Wigan Local Authority in many different public buildings, sheltered accommodation and many other local authorities and hospitals around the country including The Christie Hospital.
On the 24th of December 2010 the shutters came down at Park Road, Springfield for the last time. Although very sad this signaled the beginning of a new era for Eclipse Wallcoverings from our new premises at Appleton Street, albeit very sadly without my partner and wife Kath.
KATHRYN ANNE THOMAS
Kath was co founder of Eclipse Wallcoverings and played a major role in the long term success of the company. She died on the 27th of September in The Christie hospital after a short battle with cancer, she was aged 58. Kath was a quiet unassuming lady of strong faith and Christian practice who was called home far too soon.
This website is dedicated to Kath and a percentage of sales that the company take will be donated to our chosen charity.
